Challenge : The clients wanted their backyard recast into a mid century modern aesthetic, in addition to adding new specific program elements, such as a dining area and covered lounging area. They also specified a desire for sod lawns and the introduction of an abundance of nature into the space.

Solution : Strong clean rectilinear lines were introduced to structure the the entire yard. Often, these lines took the form of planters themselves in addition to seating benches. Planters were added against the rear of the home to introduce more natural elements and help ground the house into its environment. Pavers were set into a new lower lawn, which helped guide guests thru the space into either the new dining area or up the newly installed center stairway.
